Burglar Camera

A Video Camera at your Front, Side and Rear Door Can Stop a BurglarNovember 4, 2014

Regardless of where you stay, your home may always be a potential target for a burglary. Although having home burglar alarms installed can act as an excellent deterrent, there is not much else that is as effective as having cameras installed by the entry and exit doors of your home.

Let Would-be Burglars Know they are Being Watched

One of the main reasons that video cameras are such good burglary deterrents is that they send a clear message to would-be thieves that their actions on your property will be monitored (an in many cases recorded) at all times. In most cases, this in itself is enough to prevent a burglary from occurring, as these camera systems not only enable home owners to see what is happening at present; having them connected up to a Digital Video Recorder system (DVR) will enable the footage from around your home to be recorded and stored for future use. This is especially handy if an arrest has been made and physical evidence is required during a court case.

Know who is on your Property

An added advantage of having cameras installed around your home is that you will be able to see who is entering your property at all times. Many home owners use these systems as a means of knowing when visitors arrive as well, especially if they are in another part of the house. For example, if you are busy working in your kitchen at the back of the house and your guests ring the bell at your front door, you will be able to take a quick look at your monitor to see who is there without having to wait until you are at the door itself. In many cases, these systems can be set up in such a way that multiple monitors can be conveniently placed throughout the house as well.

Safety has no Price

Although home burglar alarms and camera systems may seem like an expensive investment to make, there is no monetary value that can ever be placed on the safety of your family. If you or your spouse are away at work all day and you have a nanny or caregiver in the house looking after children or elderly relatives, systems like these can provide you with additional peace of mind in knowing that they can summon help in case of an emergency. Cameras installed inside your home will enable you to monitor what is taking place while you are at work as well.

In many cases, a basic camera installation around the outside of your property is not overly expensive. However, it is recommended that you spend as much as you can possibly afford to on the actual cameras. This will ensure that you have clear footage of any activities that take place around your home. Installing cameras that have infrared or night vision capabilities may cost a little extra, but it will enable you to have clear footage 24 hours a day.
